The Ayr Steam Shipping Company

The Ayr Steam Shipping Company, 71, Queen Street.—

It would be difficult to find a parallel instance to the success which has attended the operations of the well-known and popular Ayr Steam Shipping Company. This firm now possesses a fine fleet of steamers, commanded by efficient and trustworthy officers, and well appointed in every way, both for passenger accommodation or carrying cargo.

They run regularly between Glasgow and Belfast, via Ayr, and Glasgow and Larne via Ayr, and are well patronised. They also form the readiest and cheapest medium for conveying cargo between Scotland and Ireland, being in direct communication with the various railway systems. The company keeps in regular employment upwards of one hundred and fifty men.

The partnership consists of Mr. David Rowan, engineer, Elliot Street, Glasgow, Mr. David Rowan, junr., shipowner, Ayr, Mr. Walter Bain, shipowner, and Mr. M. S. Sutherland, shipowner, Ardrossan. All these gentlemen take an active part in the business, which is conducted throughout with marked ability, energy, and enterprise.
