John Baird & Company, Spirit Brokers, Commission Merchants, and Brewers' and Distillers’ Agents, 146, West Regent Street.—

    The well-known firm of John Baird & Company has been founded over half a century. The business was formerly conducted in Queen Street, but was removed from thence to the present address in the year 1879. The firm do an extensive commission trade, being agents (for Glasgow and the West of Scotland) for a number of first-class Houses in the beer and spirit line, namely, William Younger & Company, brewers, Edinburgh ; John D’Arcy & Son, brewers, Dublin ; W. & J. Mutter, Bowmore Distillery, Islay ; John Boss & Company, distillers, Campbeltown ; J. McG. Ross, distiller, Teaninich, Ross-shire ; George Sayer & Company, brandy, Cognac, Montserrat pure lime-fruit juice and cordials ; Allman & Company, Brandon distillery, Cork.

    The firm have several travellers on the road, and employ a good office staff. Attached to the office in West Regent Street is a spacious store, heavily stocked with the several commodities, dealt in by the firm. The business of the firm is conducted by Mr. Alex. S. Baird in a manner which commands the confidence and respect of their clients, and which has secured for them a very high and honourable reputation in the commercial world. Mr. Baird is a Justice of the Peace for the counties of Argyle and Lanarkshire, and is at present Provost of the Borough of Hillhead.
