A. Boyd

A. Boyd, Costume Manufacturer, 10, Garthland Street.—

This business was originally established in 1851 at premises situated in Hutcheson Street. In 1879 it was removed to the present address in order to meet the requirements of a very largely increased trade. The proprietor now occupies a flat that comprises warehouses, workrooms, &c., where a very efficient staff is engaged. The workrooms are fitted with a considerable number of machines of the most improved and latest pattern.

Mr. Boyd is very extensively engaged in the manufacture of costumes and skirts, flounced and quilted, and goods of a similar description. To this branch of business he has devoted special attention, and has achieved great success. The work executed in his establishment is of a very superior kind, both in the quality of the material used and also in the workmanship. Many new designs and improvements have been introduced through this firm, which gained an unsurpassed reputation among the many influential wholesale houses that are numbered with the patrons of this establishment.

The business is entirely confined to large houses in Glasgow and Edinburgh. The business is very ably managed, and owes much of its success to the energetic and able manner in which it has been directed by the enterprising proprietor, who has developed a very large and important trade.
