James W. Boyd

James W. Boyd, Wholesale and Retail General and House Furnishing Ironmonger, and Vulcan Grate and Gasalier Foundry, Warehouse, &c., 52, Renfrew Street.—

Mr. James W. Boyd commenced business in Sauchiehall Street in the year 1875, but removed to Renfrew Street in 1876. He is a wholesale and retail general and house furnishing ironmonger and edge tool maker, and has a very large local trade, his connection, both amongst retailers and others, being of a substantial and valuable character. His goods are all of a very superior description, in fact, the best which are manufactured ; yet his prices are exceedingly moderate.

It is notorious that an ironmonger’s stock ranks among the most varied and miscellaneous, yet it would be next to impossible to name an article in ironmongery which is in general use that is not included in Mr. Boyd’s collection of wares. He also has a file assortment of grates of all descriptions, stoves, and gasaliers, &c.

The premises cover an area of three hundred square yards, and he employs a staff of some dozen hands. The business is conducted with great ability, and the commercial standing of the house is first-class. Mr. Boyd is a highly respected tradesman and a worthy citizen.
