Thomas Brown

Thomas Brown, Joiner, Builder, Contractor, and Valuator, 193, Rotten Row.—

    This notable business has for many years occupied a very prominent position among the industrial establishments of this city. It was founded by the present proprietor in Portland Street, and owing to its rapid development and the necessity for increased accommodation the present extensive and commodious premises were acquired. The works cover a large area of ground 100 yards by 50, and comprise within their limits extensive workshops well fitted with the most improved machinery ; also warehouses and stores, together with a spacious suite of well-appointed offices and counting-house. Upwards of eighty skilled and experienced workmen are actively employed in the various departments.

    Mr. Brown is extensively engaged in every branch of the business, and executes very large contracts both for public buildings and private residences, a special feature being the building and roofing of railway stations ; he is also well known and largely employed as a valuator. The business in every department receives his strict personal supervision, and is conducted with marked ability, energy, and enterprise. Mr. Brown occupies a high position in business circles, and possesses the advantage of long and thorough practical experience.
