McLean & Cameron

McLean & Cameron, Manufacturers of Marble and Decorative Paper Hangings, 18, Montrose Street.—

Amongst the many highly important industries which contribute so materially to the commercial prosperity of the city of Glasgow, the well-known establishment of Messrs. McLean & Cameron presents many features of more than ordinary interest.

This firm has been most extensively engaged in this business for over twelve years, having been established by Mr. James McLean and Mr. Peter Cameron ; it was for some years carried on in Ingram Street, when, owing to its rapid development, the present extensive and commodious premises in Montrose Street were acquired ; these comprise a large and well-appointed manufactory, having a floor area of over five thousand square feet, replete with all the most recent and Improved machinery and appliances obtainable. Immense quantities of paper hangings of a very superior description are manufactured, the leading feature being the marble, tile, and decorative varieties, of which a very large stock is always on hand. It is impossible to look upon the many exquisitely beautiful and correct designs with their wonderfully blended and thoroughly subdued, yet rich, colouring, without acknowledging them to possess artistic merits of the highest order.

Mr. James McLean, who is now the sole proprietor, is a gentleman possessing the advantage of a thorough, knowledge of the business in every detail, combined with great mercantile experience and exercises in the management of his establishment that sound judgment and well-directed energy which have always so eminently characterised his business transactions.
