    The extensive business carried on by Messrs. John Yuill & Co., bleachers and finishers, Glenmill, Campsie, and the Victoria Steam Laundry, Windsor Street, Govan, presents many features of more than ordinary interest, and the successful results achieved are a striking example of that commendable spirit of enterprise and energy which is so eminently characteristic of the business men of this city and district.

    This business dates back in its foundation to the year 1852, when it was established by Mr. John Yuill, senr., in Neilston, where he most successfully carried on every branch of bleaching, finishing, washing and dressing of new goods for manufacturers and wholesale houses. This gentleman was succeeded in 1872 by his sons, Mr. Walter and J. W. Yuill, who, in addition to the business at Campsie, in which about one hundred and seventy hands and all the newest improved machinery are employed, and which is still actively carried on, organised the extensive works known as the Victoria Steam Laundry, in Windsor Street, Govan, which were opened for business in 1885, giving employment to about one hundred and five hands.

    The Victoria Steam Laundry, under the management of Mr. Walter Yuill, is laid out on a very extensive scale, forming a large quadrangular building with spacious yard enclosed. All the departments are replete with the most improved machinery. Upwards of one hundred and seventy workpeople are regularly employed in the various departments. The firm undertake the washing and dressing of every description of household and domestic linen ; also ladiesí and gentlemenís body linen and childrenís wear of all kinds. Gentlemenís dress clothes are cleaned and pressed, chintz sofa covers cleaned and glazed.

    The firm have a first-class connection in the city and district ; the growing popularity of the Victoria Steam Laundry is well attested by the rapidly increasing business. Messrs. Yuill & Co. have several agencies in the city and suburbs, viz. : Atlas Parcel Co., Hanover Street, Glasgow ; Archibald Young, stationer, 142, Woodlands Road ; J. E. Smith, stationer, 217, Great Western Road ; Miss Clark, 20, Titwood Place, Strathbungo ; also Mr Smeaton, family grocer, Linden Terrace, Pollokshields.

    The business in every department receives the strict personal attention of the senior partner, Mr. Walter Yuill, who possesses the advantage of long thorough experience, and occupies an influential position in mercantile circles.
