ALEXANDER DEY

A NATIVE of Banffshire, Dr. Dey was educated at Aberdeen and Cambridge Universities. At the latter University he had a distinguished career, and was elected a Fellow of St. Peter's College in 1871.
Dr. Dey was one of Her Majesty's Inspectors of Schools in Scotland for thirty years, and resigned in May, 1903, in order to give personal attention to the manufacture of his various inventions. The degree of LL.D. was conferred on him by Cambridge University in 1889. He and his brother, John Dey, have erected a large factory in Syracuse, New York, where they manufacture their well-known invention the Dey Time Register, which is now world-famous, and the pioneer in that field.
Dr. Dey married in 1886 Margaret Jessie, youngest daughter of the late George B. Cooper, Sacramento, California.
