SHERIFF GLEGG

    MR. A. T. GLEGG'S first appointment to the Bench was as Sheriff-Substitute of Renfrew and Bute at Greenock. He succeeded Sheriff J. Henderson Begg there in 1901. During his four years' tenure of the office he took an active part in the social and religious work of Greenock, and he published a new edition of his work on "Reparation." He is also the author of a standard book on the Workmen's Compensation Act. In May, 1905, he was, on the recommendation of the Secretary for Scotland, transferred to Glasgow as a Sheriff-Substitute of Lanarkshire, to fill the vacancy created by the death of Sheriff R. A. Strachan.
