JAMES HENRY

    THE recently retired City Assessor of Glasgow is a native of the parish of Dundonald in Ayrshire, and in 1863 entered the service of the Corporation as a clerk in the Assessor's office. Mr. James Donaldson, the Assessor of that time, was succeeded by Mr. William Campbell, and on the death of this gentleman in 1883, Mr. Henry succeeded to the post. He resigned the office of Assessor in February, 1908, when he was appointed Consulting Assessor, a position which be now holds.
